In celebration of its 50th Anniversary in 2018, the Council on Legal Education Opportunity, Inc. (CLEO) will recognize and honor 150 individuals, law schools, and legal organizations, that have made significant accomplishments or demonstrated commitments to Education, Diversity, and Greater Equality in the legal profession. Called the CLEO EDGE Award, nominees will be announced at one of three receptions:

Education nominees in Houston on April 26th;

Diversity nominees in San Francisco on June 5th; and

Greater Equality nominees in New York on September 12th.

The CLEO EDGE Award recipients: 50 for Education; 50 for Diversity; and 50 for Greater Equality will be honored at the 50th Anniversary gala in Washington, DC on November 15, 2018.

To be considered for an award, the nominator (or nominee) must complete the attached application, which can be found at www.cleoinc.org/50/50-for-50 and includes a narrative of the specific accomplishments that demonstrate significant achievement for which the nominee is being nominated and the time frame. This should be no more than 500 words. Additional application materials, such as: letter of support explaining how the nominees fulfills the various criteria, resumes, listing of previous awards/certificates, may be uploaded but are not required.

The 50th Anniversary Committee will review all nominations and make recommendations to the CLEO, Inc. Board, which will then select the awardees.

  • Nominations were accepted until March 16, 2018. Nominees will be recognized at each reception (Education: Houston – April 26, 2018; Diversity: San Francisco – June 5, 2018; Greater Equality: New York – September 12, 2018).  Honorees will be notified in September and awards will be presented to honorees at the Gala Event, November 15, 2018, in Washington, DC.
  • The 50th Anniversary Committee will review all nominations and make recommendations to the CLEO, Inc. Board, which will then select the awardees.
