Judge E. Vincent Davis

“It was my acceptance into CLEO that prompted me to seriously pursue admission into law school. At the time, I had been out of undergraduate school about a year and was employed full-time for a governmental agency, where I had thought would remain until retirement. Although I had applied to take the LSAT, I had no real intention in going to law school until after learning that I had been accepted into CLEO. Therefore, I credit CLEO for making law school a reality for me and for adequately preparing me for the study of law.”

Judge E. Vincent Davis, born in Prentiss, MS, is the fourth of five children. He has lived the majority of his life in Fayette, MS, where he presently resides. A 1981 graduate of Jefferson County High School, he attended the Alcorn State University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1985. He earned his law degree in 1989 from Mississippi College School of Law in Jackson MS. Prior to attending law school, Judge Davis was accepted into and attended the CLEO Six-Week Summer Institute during the summer of 1986.

Judge Davis has been practicing law since 1989, including formerly serving as an Assistant District Attorney for the 6th Judicial District of Mississippi. Beginning January, 2008, he began serving in the Mississippi Senate, representing Senate District 36 which includes Claiborne, Copiah, Jefferson and rural Hinds counties. In the Mississippi Senate, Senator Davis was assigned to serve on the following committees: Appropriations, Constitution, Drug Policy, Ethics, Forestry (where he serves as vice-chairman), Judiciary B, Labor, and Oil and Gas. On December 7, 2009, he was appointed by Governor Haley Barbour as a Chancery Judge for the 17th Chancery Court District (Adams, Claiborne, Jefferson, and Wilkinson Counties). In November, 2010, Judge Davis was elected to his first 4-year term as Chancery Judge.

Judge Davis presently holds membership in the following professional organizations: American Bar Association, Mississippi Bar, Magnolia Bar Association, and the National Bar Association.
