Judge Glynnis D. Hill

Having grown up in a foster home, I did not know a lot of lawyers who could provide insights about law school or the practice of law. Without question, CLEO helped to provide me with both the insight and tools that I needed to successfully get through law school as well as the bar.”

In November 1999, Glynnis D. Hill was elected Judge for the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas. He currently serves as a Judge within the Criminal Trial Division of the Court of Common Pleas.

Judge Hill attended Penn State and Temple Universities where he was an honors history major and a recipient of the Eric A. and Josephine Walker Award. He later transferred to Temple University where he continued his major in history/political science and minored in criminal justice. In 1979, he graduated magna cum laude in history and political science and cum laude in criminal justice.

Judge Hill then attended law school at Temple University School where he received his Juris Doctor in 1984 and became a bar member of Pennsylvania and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Later he obtained a Master’s Degree in Trial Advocacy from Temple University and a Master’s Degree in Judicial Studies from the University of Nevada and the National Judicial College. He is currently enrolled in a PhD. program in Judicial Studies at the University of Nevada and the National Judicial College.

While attending Temple’s Law School, Judge Hill worked as a bail official with Pre-trial Services of Philadelphia and as an advocate for Women Against Abuse. After law school, he worked for the Defender Association of Philadelphia, as Regional Counsel for the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry, and as a civil defense litigator for ten years with CNA Insurance Companies. Judge Hill is involved with many community activities and boards in Philadelphia.
