OCTOBER 2015

  • October 9 – Mentor Orientation

Location: DePaul Law School, 25 E. Jackson Blvd., Chicago, IL

Time: 4:30-6:30pm

Summary: Mentor Orientation. Mentors will also receive a presentation on mentoring techniques that they could incorporate in their interaction with students in the program. All mentors accepted into the program will be required to register for a webinar outlining program expectations, dates, and goals for the year.

  • October 23 – Online Mentor Training Deadline

Location: Any computer

Time: Approximately 1 hour

Summary: This required training will equip prospective mentors with the skills needed to be a successful mentor for a student.

NOVEMBER 2015

  • November 6 – Open House

Location: DePaul Law School, 25 E. Jackson Blvd., Chicago, IL

Time: 6pm-9pm

Summary: First Friday of the month. Open to students, parents/guardians, guidance counselors, mentors, and partners. The program coordinator will introduce programming, present history behind planning, identify goals, and reviewing the yearlong curriculum for CLICKS. Program coordinator will introduce keynote speaker, who will deliver address. Program coordinator thanks partners, mentors, and students in program. Students will have time to meet keynote speaker and socialize.

 

  • November 10 – Mentor Meet-up

Location: Downtown Chicago, IL

Time: 6-8pm

Summary: Attend the JTB Annual Fundraiser and learn more about JTB’s mission and its family of supporters.

DECEMBER 2015

  • December 4 – Mentor Meet-up

Location: DePaul Law School, 25 E. Jackson Blvd., Chicago, IL

Time: 4:30-6:30pm

Summary: First Friday of the month.

Planning for the future. Mentees take a self-assessment and discuss with mentors.

Summary: First Friday of the month. Law school tours and panel discussion with law students about college and law school.

Summary: First Friday of the month. Open discussion. See list of suggested group mentoring discussion topics.

Summary: First Friday of the month. Spotlight on becoming a judge in Illinois and courtroom etiquette featuring DePaul Law alumns.

    • Off-site visit to a local college team’s practice
    • Winner of food drive announced along with donation to local area non-profit that gives food to the needy
